My only feedback is that the Newport red is a damn good, underappreciated full-flavor cigarette - so if you want non-menthol Newports, maybe try that one? I've had the reds once and didn't like them personally. But you are right they aren't the same .

I’m not a big menthol smoker, but when I do smoke menthols, Newports are one of my favorites since you can actually taste the tobacco and not just overpowering menthol.
