2012年6月13日 · For whatever reason Colt had trouble maintaining the product line (possibly due to credit issues with parts vendors), so in 1999 (just a year later) the XS series were replaced with the XSE line, which dropped the beavertail and wedge sight and replaced them with the standard Colt "duckbill" safety and plain-jane 3-dot rear sight.
Series 80 with Collet Bushing - 1911Forum
2015年3月22日 · I bought my Series 80 Combat Elite new in 1994, has the collet bushing, 1987 S/N. It's prolly the most accurate stock 1911 pistol I've ever owned. Slide to frame fit is really loose like a GI gun. BBL to slide fit is great, shoots much better than my tight Kimber, Ruger, Citadel etc. Hope it never breaks.

2021年5月8日 · Colt's Series 80 pistols will have a cylinder on the left side of the slide whereas the non drop safeties (some people including modern Colt verbiage calls them "Series 70s") will not. In the picture below the Series 80 is the one on the right and the one with the non drop safety, "Series 70 style", in on the left.

2019年3月17日 · I have recently acquired a Series 80 Government stainless ENHANCED. Mfg'd 1995. If you are very familiar with these pistols many people do not like the grip safety Colt used. Fit up to frame reveals a sloppy looking gap. I have spent countless hours googling this and am more confused than before I started.

2010年8月9日 · The series 80 firing system is nice. I personally like it. No problems with it at all. But on the other hand, I've had no problems with my series 70 Springer GI model either. Just shoot the hell out of the Colt, and if something breaks, replace it. Simple as that. You won't be dissapointed, and if you are- I'll buy the Colt off of you!
Colt should release a Pre Series 80 Combat Commander
2023年12月25日 · Definitely Colt should be smart enough and release a repro Pre Series 80 Commander in 9mm and of course .45 Auto. Like Dsk, I am tired of modern renditions of the Goverment Model and my only interest is focused on non modern Colts like the Series 70 repro and the new 1911C classic.

2014年9月7日 · I went through this a while back with two Series 80 guns that had the staked front sights. Finding a gunsmith who could do the work wasn't a problem -- the problem was finding front sights of the right height to match the rear sights. I eventually replaced both the front and rear sights -- for the front I had Novak dovetail sights installed.

2023年8月26日 · I believe by the time the Series 70 models came around the practice of hand-fitting Gold Cups ended. They became nothing more than a standard Colt 1911 with a ribbed slide, wide trigger and adjustable sights. I remember some of the gun rags of the 1980s admitting that new-production Gold Cups were proving to be rather lackluster regarding accuracy.

2016年8月3日 · Seems of late, Colt has reassessed its pricing structure and there are some pretty decent deals on Colt 1911's, particularly the Series 80 models and 1991. The little part used in the video is the great Colt equalizer. While working for a gunsmith a few years ago, this little shim plate was installed in a lot of firing pin safety 1911's.
