About Editing Dimensions (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)
As soon as you select a dimension for editing, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset displays the Power Dimensioning ribbon contextual tab. This contextual tab displays the properties of the selected dimension and provides the means to change them. For example, you can tag a dimension as a reference dimension, by simply clicking a button on the ribbon.
To Modify a Dimension Style (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)
In the Standard Elements list, double-click Dimension. The Dimension Settings dialog box appears. Click Edit. The Edit Dimension Styles dialog box appears. Select the type of dimension (substyle) to change and click Modify. In the displayed dialog box, make the necessary changes and click OK until all dialog boxes close.

If required, you can suppress the display of the in-place editor and replace it with the Power Dimensioning dialog box, by setting the AMPOWERDIMEDITOR system variable to 0.
