It is actually likely that the 170 grain Nosler will be a better killer than, and have approximately the same trajectory as, any pointed 180 grain cup and core bullet in a lever action 30-30.

As for the partition, the velocity range of the .30-30 is perfection for a standard cup & core bullet. You’ll pay a lot more for the partition, but you really aren’t going to get any better performance.
