Jan 6, 2014 · Single wall pipe will cool down the gases more rapidly so you want to stay for surface temps you want to read about 18" above the stove. The surface readings will be about 30-50% cooler than the actual flue gas temps. That is why the range scales on a stove pipe thermometer start saying "Overfire" or "Too hot" starting around 500F.

We like the look of the drolet deco ii stove but the most recent installer said they are low quality and won’t install it. I’ve read as much as I can and there seems nothing wrong with them.

Dry firewood makes the least expensive stove awesome, while wet wood makes the most expensive (and the lowest priced) stove no fun to use. Good dry, seasoned wood- that's the key. Stay warm.

Feb 13, 2009 · The knob you are turning sounds like the stove bypass. Open the top lid and work the control. Do you see a big damper flap towards the back of the stove moving? That is so that you can start the stove with the damper open to the flue and then, once the stove is getting hot, close the damper to reroute the flue gases through the secondary chamber.
