2015年12月17日 · The main thing to know about DesignSpark Mechanical is that it's not really free. Yes, the 3D modeling part of the software is free, but if you want to make 2D engineering drawings (like most engineers will) you have to buy the DesignSpark Mechanical Drawing add-on. I don't like the deceptive marketing they're doing.

I am trying to figure out how to set the scale of the drawing, to say 1/8, 1/2, 1:.25, etc. Currently I am only trying to work in the Draft workbench.

2018年10月10日 · I'd like to increase the infill to 100% in just the screw regions, to produce a stronger mechanical joint, while at the same time, maintain 20% infill for the rest of the beam. Here's a picture, and an attached example file, of a beam 1/4 inch square by 3 inches, with 1/2 inch long holes in each end:

2022年3月9日 · HI Charlie, I just figured out that task, as a new FC user who imported my projects from DS Mechanical (aka Spaceclaim). From all I've read, STEP does the best job of transferring geometry into FC. Once in FC, they are not fully parameterized, but most of the tools in Part Design and Mesh, plus some tools in Part work well on the imported geometry.

To model walls, doors and windows, I use the arch workbench. This allows me to setup e.g. door arcs and the desired style of the windows.

2019年5月8日 · Note on the quoted drawing, the center of the arcs are not at 21.2 mm from each other, due to the angled cone; so using center-of-arcs causes ugly values with infinite numbers after decimal point. I'm struggling with a similar situation, but in the end decided to define the dimensions differently.

2018年3月9日 · I'm Mechanical Engineer and I use FreeCAD at home for some small projects. Sometimes I need to make parts in bended sheet metal, so I use sheet metal workbench. I have a problem: every time that I make a bend, I have to change internal bend radius (Ri) and k-factor (Kf), because FreeCAD set them to default values (Ri=1 and Kf=0,5).

2021年7月31日 · You're absolutely correct. I recently got into mechanical design once i realized that my hobby software project ideas started to become more hardware based. I came to know that learning linear algebra will help me to fully grasp both subjects. Thanks for the advice.
