My opinion of the Champion 27 ton log splitter from Home Depot.
2021年12月4日 · With this in mind, I have been heating entirely with wood for the past 10 years. I recently scored some really large, green oak logs that were beyond my ability to split with a maul. I decided to finally bite the bullet and purchase a log splitter. I chose the Campion 27 from home depot for $1349. Note that Home Depot also has a 34 ton for$1779.

2012年6月11日 · The 4 way wedge will give your splitter a workout, that's for sure. I ended up taking mine off after several years. Very frequently I found the 4 way wedge to be cutting instead of splitting the wood, often making a mess of things. I took it off and I feel like I'm splitting faster now but that could just be my thoughts

2010年8月1日 · The only wood my Ryobi has issues with is big oak--even then, if I find the grain or go at the edges, it'll do it. Now, that's only 5-ton--this new one's 25-ton. Interestingly enough, the Troy-Built splitter seems to have the same 160cc Honda engine and that's labeled a 27-ton.

2013年12月30日 · The Home Depot assemblers screwed up a couple of things on mine. Also, buy some extra hydraulic fluid while you are there. The HD guys should fill the tank, but once you fire it up and cycle it a few times (fill the hoses etc) you will have to add about another 1.5 gallons.

2013年5月12日 · The crotch and knot pieces really slow things down, they wear you down, and can get hung up in the splitter and you have to attack them a few times to get it to split. I have rented a home depot splitter for the day once before. Cost 90$. Went from sun-up to sun-down almost. about 8-9 hours straight.

2020年2月20日 · I just bought a 6 ton horizontal hydraulic splitter model 'hiyard_LSP6T-52' at Toolots Inc. in Riverside for $70.48, incl. tax. This is for pickup from the warehouse, with discount code '15off'. The splitter looks very similar to Home Depot and other 6 ton models. It works well, with about a 20 second cycle time, or maybe a bit less.
