2023年12月22日 · The sound is not the issue, but support from Hammond Suzuki USA. In a nutshell, its dismal. Our family business services about 75 gospel churches in southern New England having B3, C3 or A100 tone wheel Hammonds. Four (that we know of) bought the XB3s, and three now have useless organs needing repair that we gave up on for lack of tech support.

I don’t know if it’s because of the heat generated by the tube amplifiers or the heat which comes from the motors and tone wheels spinning which in turn heat up the oil which then becomes noticeable with every inhalation.

2012年12月16日 · Also,the Hammond is sensitive to EMI interference. For example, if placed too close to a Leslie speaker the magnetic fields of the motors can interfere with the organ causing. If you have the organ very close to any such devices try moving it or them. (Electric clock on the organ is an example)

2010年7月24日 · I thought an important difference (besides the lask of the B3 features you mention) is that a CV would require a B+ source for the pre-amp, while a B3 would not. If that is the case, you would need to play it through a Hammond tone cabinet, or a Hammond family of Leslie (122, 22H, etc.) which provide this voltage to the organ.

It's a lovely organ, but feels limited, and therefore I've started searching for an upgrade. Up for sale locally here in Sweden, by a private seller, is a Hammond B3 (1967) with a Leslie 122, all for around €/$ 6k.

2011年8月30日 · Thanks for the input. I notice when I compare the B2 to my B3 through the same 122 the B2 just seems so much weaker. I'm using exactly the same drawbar settings on both organs, ( no percussion settings ) and the B2 seems to lack the fullness of the B3, of course the B2 is 15 years older.

Thanks for steps. I need to do some reading in order to get familiar both with the vocabulary and structure of B3, e.g. I don't know what "TG" means but I believe this will all come together with the many hours I will spent taking care of this great instrument. For some reason, both playing and now repairing Hammond organ makes life happier.
