Examples/tutorials of creating a game from scratch (no engine) with C++?
I don't get at all how making a game works other than just a console with text input, so I'm looking for step-by-step examples/tutorials that program something assuming knowledge of basic C++ and explain the process (e.g. 2d games like chess or a shooter with character movement, or a 3d maze game or minecraft clone).

That's what you have to produce. In theory, for the second game, you throw away everything, and then make the second game from scratch.
