2 stroke ticking noise from engine - ThumperTalk
Oct 10, 2024 · When Started for the first time it made a ticking noise from the engine. I don't know what is and I don't know why it would be making that noise because the piston, crank, ring, gaskets and bearings are brand new. Sounds like loose conrod or piston slap. Dec 24, 2006 · It looks like they are on there pretty tight. If putting a little piece of cloth or something under them for a second and see if it stops. Also, skipn8r (or anyone who has an '01 cr250) could you possibly send me a closeup picture of where the wire goes into the flywheel? Mine doesn't seem to sit on there that well... Thanks.

Jul 5, 2015 · There is a noise in the engine that runs with the rpm, when I rev, it ticks faster. I can also hear this noise when I ride. I have checked for slack in crank on both sides, changed piston, the conrodl and the whole clutch side. Also checked for engine mounts. It still runs normally and starts as usual. Can the main bearings be bad anyway?

May 2, 2018 · I know that 2 stroke engines have a specific "piston slap" noise, but this just didn't seem right. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to sound, or if something is wrong. If it's not supposed to sound like that, what could it be?

Jul 5, 2009 · All 2-strokes use a hyperuetetic CAST piston. That was my line of questioning regarding "NOS piston". The forged Wiseco is fine in 4-strokes, but the different expansion rate makes 2-stroke usage unacceptable.

Jul 5, 2009 · Timing can always be an issue. If you're firing before TDC, you can get a knock. The oil pump may be important, because some motors, admittedly not a lot but some, depend on that oil to lubricate the bearings before being burned with the fuel. Your jetting, lean/rich, will depend on the fuel/oil ratio.

Jan 5, 2007 · Ok just bought a 2002 blaster, and I am experiencing a loud ticking noise while the engine is running. It sounds like something in the engine is rattling. The oil light is also on when I run the engine. Any ideas of what the problem could be?
