2011年8月17日 · Which watercolor easel is everyone using? Right now I’m using my mayline drafting table and lately a clipboard in my lap so I can work online and paint at the same time. I kinda want to build a simple one that is portable & stable. I’m looking for ideas in wood, metal, pvc pipe. What about single mast easel for watercolors?
Watercolor Painting – on flat easel or upright?
2004年6月15日 · I am a beginning watercolor painter and I’ve read articles mentioning artists who paints watercolor in the flat positioned easel/table and also in an upright easel. The article did not elaborate any further on how you can paint in watercolor in the upright position. A lot of watercolorists paints in the flat position, as I do.

2014年4月18日 · The effects of watercolor are derived from paint-water-gravity! Horizontal paper negates gravity. Angled paper increases gravity. Each creates it’s own set of challenges, assets and liabilities. In my experience, the experienced and capable watercolor painters often take advantage of everything that paint-water-gravity can offer.
Do any of you watercolorists use a Pochade box?
2012年5月4日 · Watercolor dedicated easels such as the SunEden or the En Plein Air Pro are much better for the watercolorist, and superior to a pochade or French easel in most situations. So unless you have a specific need, such as the one I mentioned above, I wouldn’t even consider a pochade for watercolor.

2016年2月29日 · I use foam core board as a backer board, cut for various size watercolor paintings which I most commonly paint. Other materials for backing which work well include coraplast, Masonite and other similar rigid materials. Individual sheets of watercolor paper may be attached to the backer board using bull dog clips without any stretching.

2000年8月18日 · I have a Jullian french easel which I use for oil painting. When I do watercolors, I have been working horizontally on the kitchen table. I have been thinking, however, that i ought to try using the easel for H20-color too, if only to help “loosen me up.” I tend to work very small (5″ x 7″ typically), and very, VERY tight.

Right now, the Joe Miller easel is out of stock at Cheap Joe’s, but I’m wondering if anyone has seen it or had a chance to try one.

2009年3月27日 · I’d agree that an H-frame easel, if you have space, is far more stable. If you don’t, the I’d suggest a radial easel is the next best choice, or providing you work fairly small, a french easel can be a good alternative. In my opinion, “sketching” easels are generally a waste of wood (or aluminium!). Sneeze at them and they fall over.

2012年8月8日 · Edward, this easel from Jerry’s doesn’t appear to have a tilting head so that one can paint watercolors from various positions, ranging from flat to vertical. The other option to a tilting tridpod head is to use an adapter that is specially made for watercolor painting (this fits on top of the tripod and tilts and swivels).
