So I won't say this is a process that any/all woods would benefit from: Actually this video is pretty terrible lol but you can see that the same factors will affect different woods differently. Perhaps this is not true torrefication, but it may still be viable.

2019年7月29日 · EDIT: And I have used mineral oil on everything except maple. It does tend to darken them up a bit and give them a bit more luster. EDIT #2: This is the darkest Pau Ferro fretboard I've seen and I have it. Looks dark enough to pass my "does it look like rosewood" litmus test for me.

I'm reluctant to get into the whole "they sound different" debate, but the feel does impact on the sound to some extent because of how it inspires you to play.

I just about peed myself. lol If the 5-string version had a maple fretboard (to match my current 5HH of course!)..... to quote Van Wilder, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake! Whew! My luthier buddy who made them also uses pine, Doug fir, and many other similar local species quite a bit. My fretless is cedar core, ash center block, maple wings on the front only, mid 8 lb. range.

Then drill a new correctly sized pilot hole and thread in the screw. That's what most of us pro Luthiers will do to repair a stripped hole back to factory strength.
