Fans of restored and modified classic cars now need to learn a new word, because this reborn Ford Escort RS from Boreham Motorworks is not a restomod – it’s a Continumod.

U.K. company Boreham Motorworks is set to build a limited run of Ford-sanctioned versions of the fabled rally star.

Ford killed the Escort in the early 2000s to make room for the Focus. The legendary nameplate made a surprising comeback last decade for a sedan built and sold in China. It was a short-lived return since the nameplate was retired last year.

Britain’s Boreham Motorworks is now reviving the original Escort RS as a restomod that updates the car for the modern world. The exterior design is a refined version of the original vehicle. The company removes the quarter bumpers and adds a billet aluminum grille. LED headlight accents replace the original circular lamps.

In an industry full of high-end restomod projects, Boreham Motorworks has turned its attention to something a little more humble. The brand teamed up with Ford to pelt the first-generation Escort into the 21st century with updated styling inside and out,
