After winning the Calder Trophy last year, Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks has been struggling this season. His highly-touted scoring is down– he has just six goals in 30 games, and currently has a shooting percentage of just 8%.

Bedard's spectacular toe-drag goal on Thursday against the Islanders seemed to flagrantly defy the laws of physics.

At 11:04 of the third, the Blackhawks started their climb back into the game. TJ Brodie scored his first goal as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. On the goal, Bedard collected his 17th assist of the season which is a great number for a 19-year-old.

Hawks interim coach Anders Sorensen has emphasized the importance of motion for Bedard while also listening to Bedard's own ideas about things that could help him.

The Blackhawks might be better under Sorensen than they were under Luke Richardson. But they’re not going to be perfect. Not by a long shot. Roller-coaster periods like the third period at UBS Arena might be the norm for a little while.

Luke Richardson was fired as Chicago Blackhawks head coach on Thursday, with AHL head coach Anders Sorensen coming on as a replacement. One of Sorensen’s main tasks will be helping Connor Bedard get back on track.
