A huge band of snow, sleet and rain looks set to batter a 515-mile long swathe of the UK in a few days' time, weather maps show. Snow covers a stretch of northern Britain from Durness in northern Scotland to Derby - a distance of about 515 miles - at 6pm on December 3, according to weather maps generated by WX Charts today (November 30).

Snow is set to fall for 48 hours across multiple areas - with one region set for as much as 19cm of snowfall per hour and all of its major towns and cities in the firing line

UK weather maps indicate that millions of Brits should prepare for a snow onslaught that could affect several cities nationwide. The recent cold snap has swept across many areas, with the Met Office issuing yellow weather warnings for snow and ice in numerous regions.

The latest weather maps previously showed snow swirling over Scotland only, but now parts of England and Wales are also forecasted to be hit.
