Definitely cool to see if you're passing through, just to say you went. But, the area seems super sketchy and run down. I wouldn't go if you're squeamish about rough neighborhoods. StevinB1的完整评论

Hi, I plan to visit Michael Jackson's house in Gary, Indiana this year. I will stay in Chicago and take a bus to Gary. I want to spend one or two nights in Gary honestly, because I will be traveling from Indonesia for the sole purpose to visit his house. But after few search of information in internet I learn that Gary is not a safe place to visit let alone to spend few days there. For additional information, I will be traveling alone and probably will have to walk around from bus station to get to the house. Can you give me some advises on what should I do to get there safely? I have planned for this trip since few months ago. Thank you

Do NOT stay in Gary or any of the surrounding areas. Stay in Chicago and drive to the house if you want to see it. All you can do is take a picture from the outside. The house got fixed …
Do NOT stay in Gary or any of the surrounding areas. Stay in Chicago and drive to the house if you want to see it. All you can do is take a picture from the outside. The house got fixed up after Michael died, but all of the surrounding houses are boarded up and burned out. Gary is NOT safe. Do NOT take public transportation there. I just took the train from Chicago to Gary and the train station is much more unsafe than even a couple of years ago. I am from Gary and my mother lives in the town next to Gary, and it is very unsafe. I don't even like driving through there. There are hardly any businesses open in Gary, so no reason to stay.
